Hello friends, Welcome to bolloywood, We are going to talk about an Indian film actor, producer, television host, playback singer and former politician Mr. Amitabh Bachchan . He first gained popularity in the early 1970s for films such as Zanjeer, Deewaar, and Sholay, Bachchan is married to actress Jaya Bhaduri. His first acting role was as one of the seven protagonists in the film Saat Hindustani.
He got his first Filmfare Best Supporting Actor award for Anand. He won his first Flimfare Best Actor Award for his performance in Amar Akbar Anthony. Bachchan won his first National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance as a Mafia don in the 1990 cult film Agneepath. Amitabh Bachchan appeared in Yash Chopra’s box-office hit, Mohabbatein, directed by Aditya Chopra. His role won him his third Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award
After a gap of 27 years Bachchan reunite with Rishi Kapoor onscreen in an comedy-drama 102 Not Out film directed by Umesh Shukla based on a gujarati play. These days he is busy filming Thugs of Hindostan with Amir Khan which is set to release in November this year.
He played his first antagonist role as an infatuated lover-turned-murderer in Parwana followed by Reshma Aur Shera. During this time, he made a guest appearance in the film Guddi which starred his future wife Jaya Bhaduri. In 1972 he made an appearance in the road action comedy Bombay to Goa. Bachchan made several guest appearances in films such as Kunwara Baap and Dost, before playing a supporting role in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan.
As an actor, he continued to perform in a range of characters, receiving critical praise for his performances in Aks, Aankhen, Khakee and Dev. His other successes that year include Parvarish and Khoon Pasina. 1978 is arguably considered his most successful year at the box office since all of his six releases the same year, namely Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Trishul, Don, Kasme Vaade, Ganga Ki Saugandh and Besharam were massive successes.
Other films of this period like Shaan and Shakti which pitted him against the veteran actor Dilip Kumar were not successful at the box office but Ram Balram, Naseeb, Lawaaris, Kaalia, Yaarana, Barsaat Ki Ek Raat were blockbusters.
Bachchan is known for his deep, baritone voice. He has been a narrator, a playback singer, and presenter for numerous programmes He also has done voice-over work for the following movies: Bawarchi, Hello Brother, Lagaan, Parineeta, Jodhaa Akbar, Kahaani, The Ghazi Attack etc.
He played a triple role in Mahaan, and starred in the top-grossing film of that year, Coolie, Sharrabi, Mard, Aakhree Raasta, and Shahenshah.Other releases during that year, namely Nastik, Andha Kanoon (in which he had an extended guest appearance) were hits and Pukar was an average grosser. He played double roles in the comedy Satte Pe Satta and action drama Desh Premee which succeeded at the box office along with mega hits like Namak Halaal, Khud-Daar and the critically acclaimed Bemisal. Bachchan starred in Suhaag which was the highest earning film of that year. In the same year he also enjoyed critical acclaim and commercial success with films like Mr. Natwarlal, Kaala Patthar, The Great Gambler and Manzil.
Bachchan then played the leading role in the film Majboor which was a success at the box office. After the release of Khuda Gawah, Bachchan went into semi-retirement for five years. Bachchan attempted to revive his acting career, and eventually had commercial success with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Major Saab and received positive reviews for Sooryavansham but other films such as Lal Baadshah and Hindustan Ki Kasam were box office failures.He was cast by Yash Chopra in the romantic family drama Kabhie Kabhie He starred in a variety of film genres, from the comedy Chupke Chupke and the crime drama Faraar to the romantic drama Mili.
He played the title role as a ghost in Bhoothnath. He starred with his son Abhishek in the films Bunty Aur Babli, Sarkar and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna . All of them were successful at the box office. Other hits followed, with Bachchan appearing as an older family patriarch in Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love , Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Baghban .
One project that did particularly well for Bachchan was Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Black. His later releases in 2006 and early 2007 are Baabul , Ekalavya and Nishabd , which failed to do well at the box office but his performances in each of them were praised by criticsn. Two of his films Shootout at Lokhandwala did well at the box office and was declared a hit in India, while Cheeni Kum picked up after a slow start and was a success. Paa, which released at the end of 2009 was a highly anticipated project as it saw him playing his own son Abhishek’s Progeria-affected 13-year-old son.
He played the role of a grumpy father suffering from chronic constipation in the critically acclaimed Piku which was also one of the biggest hit. He appeared in the women centric courtroom drama film Pink which was highly praised by critics. Bachchan has been involved with many social causes apart from National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards for which he has been awarded several honours.
