Samai/Vrat Ka Chawal Pulao – Navratri Recipe

  • 2 cups sama/vrat  ka chawal
  • 1 large potato cut into small dices
  • 1 cup paneer cut into small dice
  • 1 cup tomotoes cut into small dice
  • ½ tsp chopped green chilies
  • 2tsp chopped green coriander
  • 1 tsp raw peanuts
  • sendha namak to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • Oil for frying

How to make Samai Rice Pulao

  • Heat one tbsp. ghee or oil. Add sama ka chawal and sauté a little till lightly colored.
  • Add the sendha namak, black pepper  and 2 cup water.
  • Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Cook till almost done.
  • Remove from heat and cover and set aside covered for 10 minutes.
  • Wash, peel and chop the potato and paneer  into dices.
  • Also chop the green chilies and the coriander leaves.
  • Put some oil in a pan and deep fry  raw peanuts potato and paneer dices till golden brown.
  • Add  fried peanuts, potato, paneer and  the chopped tomatoes to the rice.
  • Garnish with green chopped chilies and coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with curd or raita.
